Get Davinci Resolve, it is free and actually better than Premiere.Įditing workflow is, more or less, the same Resolve’s definitely overtaking Avid and Premiere in the indie space - I’ve heard of plenty of indie projects being cut in Resolve, including features.

With Premiere and Avid being file-based, it’s easier to get rolling from the archive/attic than in Resolve, where you’ve either got to configure Automatic Project Backups if you’re not using Collaboration, or pray Collaboration doesn’t crash and lose all the work since your last database backup or manual project export.Īlternatively, AVID’s probably more practical and widespread because of how easy it is to share bins with online/other editors - something that Resolve didn’t have up until 17. You’d have to have IT/Engineering on hand to configure/troubleshoot the Postgres project server and restore backups if a project goes bad. There was a bit of a discussion on this over in r/davinciresolve recently - my personal theory is that Collaboration (the feature) and the database format for project management in Resolve is probably a significant enough infrastructure change that individual troubleshooting becomes less practical.
I find it the hardest to use since it's not as easy to work with other edit/effects houses while using it and Apple Motion is frankly just not up to par. Lots of youtubers and prosumers use Final Cut X and at a flat 299 is a very good value for an app that Apple constantly updates.

Fusion is a industry darling for compositing but it's node based UI is based on 3d animation software not layers based like most NLEs and content creation tools. But it's a long long way from being a go to NLE in the industry but colorists all use it heavily. The transcribe tool itself is saving me hours now.ĭavinci is the best free option. It lacks in color tools but they have been improved recently as well as their captions engine. It's power is being completely compatible with every CC app and file type and linking footage to an open and working after effects project is two clicks. Premire is great and what I use for our workflow in my studio. It's forceful on it's controls(keyboard heavy).

Was Running MacDrive now using Paragon for HFS drivesĪs I say, tinkering with the media cache settings worked for me.For people that get paid to edit film, video, television, etc. Yesterday I start up, tab out of avid, try to go back into it but have to wait 10+ seconds for things to catch up. Last week I reinstalled WIN10 and was using a versions of MC2021 with 0 issues then I scaled back to 2018.12.15 for the current long term project I was on and had 0 issues on Friday. Had I figured this all out before my return window was up I probably would have opted for an i9 but at least tried another mobo in the meantime. I wonder if my mother board is the issue. I've tried everything as mentioned above and a whole lot more. Other than this one issue (which is substantial if you need to tab around looking at scripts etc) everything else runs great with MC. I'm having this same exact issue and wonder if it's due to also being on an AMD system.
